Frequently Asked Questions
Does the note only feature traditional beer gardens?
No, and that's absolutely intentional! For us, the term "Biergarten" in this project is a wonderful umbrella term for the entire variety of outdoor dining establishments in Regensburg.
We're all about the feeling: sitting comfortably outdoors, enjoying a cool beer (or Radler), and celebrating camaraderie. That's why you'll find a colorful, charming mix on the voucher:
- The Bavarian Classics: Restaurants with traditional beer garden flair, old trees, and classic coziness.
- Modern Oases of Well-being: Beautiful inn gardens, cozy terraces, courtyards, and outdoor dining areas with their own unique and pleasant atmosphere.
Good to know for tradition lovers:
The term "Biergarten" is legally strictly defined in Bavaria (e.g., by the right to bring your own food). However, since we also include modern inn gardens and terraces with fantastic service, the general rule at participating locations is: Please use the on-site gastronomy and do not bring your own food. Each location has its own unique charm – and it's precisely this variety that makes the voucher so exciting!
What do I do if a beer garden is overcrowded or I can't get in?
Regensburg's outdoor dining is popular – and rightly so! Especially on mild summer evenings or during peak hours, it can, of course, happen that a beer garden is simply full.
Please note the following points for a fair coexistence:
- The proprietor has the right to refuse service: The participating restaurateurs are legally and organizationally completely free at all times to grant or deny guests entry. The beer garden voucher is not a "guarantee of admission", but an invitation to discover the city's diversity.
- Admission conditions during peak hours: During peak times (e.g., at prime dinner time), some locations reserve the right to prioritize seating for guests who also wish to eat, and not just drop by for a quick beer. Please understand this – restaurateurs make their living from their gastronomy.
- It's all about how you say it: Friendly, respectful behavior towards the service staff goes without saying. Those who complain will be asked to leave – those who smile are more likely to be offered a spot.
- Stay flexible and embrace variety: If a location is full or it's not the right time, don't fret! The Regensburg beer garden voucher is precisely for being flexible. Choose one of the many other fantastic beer gardens on the voucher and continue your discovery tour. Regensburg has enough beautiful spots for everyone!
What needs to be considered during implementation?
For your beer garden tour to be a complete success, you should keep a few typical Bavarian peculiarities in mind:
- Opening hours & weather: A real beer garden usually only opens in good weather. So, check briefly beforehand whether the sky is blue enough and the hosts are ready.
- Avoid "rush hour": At absolute peak times – when half of Regensburg is out and about on a perfect weekend – it can get really crowded in the large, well-known locations.
- Discover hidden gems: If it's crowded or the tables are full, feel free to switch to the slightly smaller, lesser-known beer gardens in the region. It's often cozier there, the service staff doesn't get stressed as easily, and you'll get to know authentic corners of Bavarian pub culture that you might not have even known about!
- No stress: It's not a race! The tour thrives on chatting, enjoying, and coziness.
Does each person need their own ticket?
Yes, absolutely. The Beer Garden Pass is a personal document and is tied to the individual person. The beer purchased and consumed on-site is confirmed by the service staff directly on the pass belonging to that person. Therefore, it is not possible to share a pass or transfer stamps – a group of four, for example, would need four separate passes. After all, it's about personal honor and the well-deserved pin for your own achievement!
Who confirms my successful completion?
You can easily sort this out within your group! At the beginning of your tour, simply designate a Group Chief Inspector within your group. Once you have collected all 8 stamps, this Chief Inspector officially confirms your well-deserved Beer Garden Dignity (or Beer Garden Dignity with the Royal Ludwig Order).
The certificate does not need to be submitted, uploaded, or mailed anywhere afterwards. After all, it is purely a fun document, where the joy of Bavarian tavern culture and shared time in the beer garden are paramount!
Do I have to do the certificate in one day?
For God's sake, no! 8 beers and 8 beer gardens in one day would be an extreme challenge even for experienced Bavarian top athletes. You have the entire beer garden season to collect the stamps. Whether you split the tour over two weekends, visit a different beer garden every evening after work, or take your time throughout the summer is entirely up to you. Enjoy Bavarian coziness completely stress-free!
What are the conditions of participation?
Participation is incredibly simple and follows the rules of Bavarian "Gemütlichkeit" (coziness/conviviality):
- Minimum Age: You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the Beer Garden Pass.
- Validity: The pass is valid for the current beer garden season in the officially printed partner beer gardens.
- Stamp & Signature: For each beer garden visited, ideally you'll get a stamp or signature from the waitstaff – assuming, of course, the staff has the time for it during busy beer garden operations!
- The Senior Examiner Backup: Should the waitstaff be too busy (which is completely normal during the best beer garden weather), that's not a problem: In this case, consumption will be confirmed simply by your self-appointed Group Senior Examiner on the pass.
- Responsibility: Fun and enjoyment are paramount. Please take care of yourself and your companions and never drive a car after visiting the beer garden!
How long does delivery take?
Usually 3-5 days. We'll pack your beer garden pass as quickly as possible so you and your crew can start the season promptly. As soon as your order is on its way, you'll receive a confirmation.
